Why is preschool important for a child?
The first few years of a child’s life are unique in that development and learning occur faster and are maintained better than at any other time in his/her life. For instance, studies demonstrate that children who are exposed to a second language during the “critical period” of 0-2 years of age will acquire a level of mastery that surpasses children who begin learning the language in later years. This example illustrates well how children whose learning and development is supported during these critical years will not simply be better prepared for formal Kindergarten schooling, but will also start to acquire many of the foundational experiences and skills that are necessary for them to become productive and happy adults.
