Sponsored: BOB Stroller Adventures — Can Moms Own Nice Things?

April 24, 2011 By Chelsea

Let’s face it: as parents, we are not allowed to own anything nice. Buy a nice car and inevitable barf will end up crusted in the backseat; Purchase the perfect date night outfit and plan for spit-up or a major blow out to happen just as you prep to walk out the front door; Lean in for a hug and spaghetti sauce hands end up on your hand bag; Splurge for a housekeeper and watch within minutes the dirt return; And don’t even get me started on the couch that was your first non-Ikea furniture expenditure that somehow got relegated to a trampoline no matter how many times you try to patiently say: jumping is for outside.

As a BOB Ambassador (ahem) when my Duallie first arrived – by far the nicest stroller I have ever owned in my 7 years of parenting — I couldn’t help but think how it would only stay so stylishly perfect for long. Swearing up and down that THIS TIME I would not let a speck of dirt hit the sleek design when of course the moment happened. Stopping for our usual hot chocolate, my two year old and I were walking past the parked stroller to sit on a bench when she tripped and spilled her beverage on her shiny new ride.

NOOOOOO… I thought. Trying to have a great attitude, I thought about how I will have something to forever remember this moment by, still hoping overall that it would clean up.

And it did. In fact, I grabbed a napkin swiped it up and not a single stain on the ultra padded canvas seat. At long last I may just be able to get away with owning something nice. Of course as a Breezy Mama subscriber, you can too! All subscribers are automatically entered to win a BOB Revolution SE Duallie ($629 value)! Why? Cuz we love you.

Bumbleride Gets You Moving

March 18, 2009 By Alex

indie-twn-sWhen I became pregnant with my second child I obsessed with what stroller I was going to get. Seriously, no joke, I was OBSESSED. I talked about it constantly, stopped people on the street to inquire about theirs and was always going in stores and looking online doing research about new models.

Why the stress? I had a lot of variables. I wanted one double for everything—to take to the mall, to go to places such as Disneyland, to walk to the beach and to exercise with. And oh yeah, most of the models stop at $200.00 and then jump to $600.00—pretty stressful. And even better? Most of the high end ones aren’t sold in your local Babies ‘R Us, so it’s next to impossible to test drive it before plunking down that $600.00.

I was driving myself mad trying to figure out what to do—what was the perfect double for me which encompassed all of the above characteristics? And then . . . I found it. Bumbleride’s Indie Twin. What I call a “hybrid” model, the stroller has big tires so it can be used as a jogger, but it is compact enough to take to the mall. My three year old is comfortable in it but it also has an infant carrier attachment for my newborn. The best part? Although it averages at $589.00, the Bumbleride works out to be a bit cheaper because 1) it’s the ONLY double you’ll need, saving you the costs of buying others and 2) it comes with the aforementioned infant carrier attachment—no need to buy one separately. The attachment comes off easily, so you don’t have to have it on there permanently. The snack tray does cost you $40.00, but you get so many extras that I didn’t mind. Extras like a foot muff—basically a cozy covering that zips in around the seat so you’re kiddos are nice and toasty when you take it out on cold winter days. It also has a bumper bar for your child to hold on to, an air pump and cup holder. Bottom line, it’s fabulous. I knew I had made the right choice when I went to the mall with it for the first time—I was able to hold a cup of coffee, steer with the other arm, and navigate the store’s aisles. Incredible. Check it out here.

breezy_deal1Breezy Tip: Can’t get friends and family to chip in the $600? Check out the $179 Joovy Caboose Tandem Stroller. Though it’s not a jogger, it’s great for everything else you’d need a double stroller for.
