You Remember Her As Punky Brewster and Now…

March 19, 2009 By Chelsea

aboutus_familyWith the slogan, “Tree huggin with style,” there’s even more to love about Soleil Moon Frye (yeah, that’s Punky Brewster) and Paige Goldberg Tolmach’s The Little Seed boutique based in Los Angeles. Carrying eco-friendly and organic products, Breezy was way too excited to come across the Seahorse Fauna Long Sleeve Onesie and just had to find out more from the two mother entrepenuers.

How many kids do you each have?
Paige: I have a son, Jackson, 2, and Soleil has two daughters, Poet, 3, and baby Jagger.

We fell in love with your Seahorse Fauna Long Sleeve Onesie (not to mention the turtle, gorilla, zebra and more designs). Along with clothing, what other sorts of products can shoppers find from The Little Seed?

Paige: Everything from A to Z for baby and toddler – toys, bodycare, bottles, non-toxic feeding sets and nursery furniture, etc.

Soleil: We have an amazing assortment of eco goodies for the family. We really search the globe for the best products for our families and others. Everything is tested out on [Read more…] about You Remember Her As Punky Brewster and Now…

Glamourmom Tank

March 18, 2009 By Alex

glammour-momWe’ve all seen the ads—the cute redheaded mom with one boob out nursing her child. They’re in the back of every parenting publication I’ve laid eyes on, but have you ever known anyone to actually have the tank? Neither did I, so I was in the dark of how absolutely fabulous it is. I was in the need of some sort of jog bra—the ones I had weren’t holding me up and were uncomfortable on my new nursing nipples. So, while I was in Milkalicous (see Bella Materna) complaining about my need for an exercise bra, the salesperson suggested I try the Glamourmom tank. I did, and was blown over by how much support it had. I bought one and am constantly washing it because I am always wearing it for my workouts. Amazing.

Bumbleride Gets You Moving

March 18, 2009 By Alex

indie-twn-sWhen I became pregnant with my second child I obsessed with what stroller I was going to get. Seriously, no joke, I was OBSESSED. I talked about it constantly, stopped people on the street to inquire about theirs and was always going in stores and looking online doing research about new models.

Why the stress? I had a lot of variables. I wanted one double for everything—to take to the mall, to go to places such as Disneyland, to walk to the beach and to exercise with. And oh yeah, most of the models stop at $200.00 and then jump to $600.00—pretty stressful. And even better? Most of the high end ones aren’t sold in your local Babies ‘R Us, so it’s next to impossible to test drive it before plunking down that $600.00.

I was driving myself mad trying to figure out what to do—what was the perfect double for me which encompassed all of the above characteristics? And then . . . I found it. Bumbleride’s Indie Twin. What I call a “hybrid” model, the stroller has big tires so it can be used as a jogger, but it is compact enough to take to the mall. My three year old is comfortable in it but it also has an infant carrier attachment for my newborn. The best part? Although it averages at $589.00, the Bumbleride works out to be a bit cheaper because 1) it’s the ONLY double you’ll need, saving you the costs of buying others and 2) it comes with the aforementioned infant carrier attachment—no need to buy one separately. The attachment comes off easily, so you don’t have to have it on there permanently. The snack tray does cost you $40.00, but you get so many extras that I didn’t mind. Extras like a foot muff—basically a cozy covering that zips in around the seat so you’re kiddos are nice and toasty when you take it out on cold winter days. It also has a bumper bar for your child to hold on to, an air pump and cup holder. Bottom line, it’s fabulous. I knew I had made the right choice when I went to the mall with it for the first time—I was able to hold a cup of coffee, steer with the other arm, and navigate the store’s aisles. Incredible. Check it out here.

breezy_deal1Breezy Tip: Can’t get friends and family to chip in the $600? Check out the $179 Joovy Caboose Tandem Stroller. Though it’s not a jogger, it’s great for everything else you’d need a double stroller for.

Swiffer SweeperVac makes life swell

March 6, 2009 By Alex

swifter-vac1I live by the beach; have two dogs, a toddler, and all hardwood floors. What does this add up to? Sand, dog hair, and general STUFF covering my house. What’s the answer? The Swiffer SweeperVac! One word describes this little machine—awesome. I had to sweep every day—a half hour of my life that could be better spent doing something else. A friend recommended the Swiffer and my life has changed for the better. Dog hair? Gone! Cheerios? Gone! Playground sand? Gone! The gadget is remarkable and cuts the chore of sweeping in half. Truly a timesaver.

breezy_deal1Breezy Mama Tip: If your house is mostly carpet, this may not be the product for you. I love it because I have hardwood floors and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen. However, if your eating area is not carpeted and you don’t have dogs to clean up the food spills, then this is the product for you!

Bella Materna Anytime Nursing Bra

February 28, 2009 By Alex

bella-maternaWhen I was pregnant with my first child, I thought that I needed to have a supply of nursing bras for when he came into the world. I went online, saw that Medela made some (and thought—Medela? don’t they make a pump? They must be good.) and ordered a couple in my size. I wore the bras for a solid year, never questioning them. That was until I broke them out again for the birth of my second child. As I put them on for the first time (again) I thought, “I don’t remember these being so, well, big,” and shrugged my shoulders and finished getting dressed. It went that way for about a month until I finally realized that there MUST be something a little more feminine and maybe, dare I say, sexier, in the nursing bra market. I went to my local (newly opened) breastfeeding store, Milkalicious, where I found it—the Bella Materna bra. I tried it on and it was as if the angels above started singing. First, they actually had one in my size (very hard to find) and Yes! it was cut low enough to not show above the neckline of my shirt and Yes! it was sexy and Yes! it didn’t have the nursing tabs—you just pull it open and whip out the boob. All this with complete support and lift! It changed my life, and it can change yours too.
