BigBoxPlay takes fort building to the next level!

Give your kids a cardboard box and magic is made. They become a fort, a rocket, fire engine, race car, or just a space to call their own . . . every kid lights up when they get a big, empty box. BigBoxPlay knows this, and has taken fort building, and cardboard boxes, to the next level. Imagine tunnels, boxes, and towers, all made of durable, double-walled cardboard, and strong enough for your children to stand on. That’s BigBoxPlay. Founded by Pete Moffett, who was frustrated with the digital toys dominating the market, he wanted something that stood out, while creating a special way to connect with his grandchildren. Knowing that fort building is always in-style, he created a way for the children’s imagination to be sparked, while capturing the magic of building a space of their own. A captivating play experience recalling wholesome memories from your childhood, BigBoxPlay takes building a fort to the next level!

BigBoxPlay can be put together in different configurations — it comes with large, plastic screws that are easy for little hands to turn making set up a breeze. When it’s time to come down, it only takes a few minutes to take down, and it can be folded flat so it’s easy to store. There’s also various themes — rockets, castles, and of course, plain, so children can design their own. BigBoxPlay also offers dry-erase panels so kids can draw, erase, and draw again. Each of the configurations features units with peepholes, and doors, making play even more fun.

Last week, my daughter, Emily, and I were invited to Storymakery at the Irvine Spectrum to have a first look at BigBoxPlay. Emily was able to “test” out the five-piece configuration — it was love at first sight! She ran, jumped and drew to her heart’s content. There were several other children playing on it as well, and the BigBoxPlay was able to withstand all of their running, jumping, and climbing.
