Our The Wild Life Adventure!

To celebrate the NEW movie for the whole family, The Wild Life in theaters Sept 9, my husband, five kids and I were invited to a screening of the film and then to spend the night at the San Diego Zoo!

With castaway Robinson Crusoe washed up on an island, he quickly befriends the animals, including an adventurous parrot Mak, “the snack-obsessed tapir Rosie, from the persnickety echidna Epi to the acrobatic pangolin Pango, from the ditzy goat Scrubby to the commonsensical kingfisher Kiki and the always-cool chameleon Carmello.” It’s only fitting we celebrated these animals by meeting some of our own!

After getting our giggles in and enjoying the movie together, we headed off to the San Diego Zoo where we unloaded our luggage onto a big truck and then immediately got to meet some animals up close and personal, including a sloth! Adding to the fun, we got to meet several animals that were inspired by The Wild Life movie characters: the macaw (Mak), pangolin (Pango), echidna (Epi), kingfisher (Kiki)!

Learning fun facts such as Pandas poop 30-40 times A DAY (!!!), we then were boarded onto a bus for a fun tour around one of the most amazing zoos in the world – from bears to tigers to elephants and more, it was a relaxing way to take in the lush landscape aboard a double decker bus.

Soon we got to see our campsite and enjoy a delicious dinner buffet! As we were finishing up dinner we got to see meet an amazing bird with a trainer who made us all laugh with its bird call. A scavenger hunt followed as we got to run around the zoo at night looking for particular animals, followed up with some S’mores!

To cap off an amazing day, we got a nighttime walking tour of the zoo that included seeing the lions and, to my extreme amusement, one let out a loud roar!

The next morning, we were up and at ’em, enjoying delicious breakfast and some more up close animal presentations, including a cheetah and some wolves!

It was such an amazing adventure all around that was truly educational, too. We all were so excited to not only get to see The Wild Life, but to feel like we lived it!

THE WILD LIFE – In Theaters September 9

From the over-exuberant parrot Mak to the snack-obsessed tapir Rosie, from the persnickety echidna Epi to the acrobatic pangolin Pango, from the ditzy goat Scrubby to the commonsensical kingfisher Kiki and the always-cool chameleon Carmello, things are larger-than-life on a tropical isle that is pure wild animal paradise.  Then Robinson Crusoe, a marooned human, arrives in the midst of a furious storm, and their lives are forever changed by this bewildering new “creature.”  No matter their differences, castaway human and quirky animals embark on an hilarious new adventure, building the island’s first tree-house and surviving together.  But when two conniving members of the animal kingdom — the savage cats Mal & May – pounce into a battle for control of the island, Crusoe and his animal posse must uncover the true power of friendship against all odds (even savage cats).
