Time-saving apps to kick off 2016

HSD_-3280Breezy Mama Editor Lan Gets Us Her Favorite Time Saving Apps! From Lan:

As we ring in 2016, we tend to take this time to reassess and making some goals for the new year. Besides getting fitter and trying to be more patient with my tween daughter, I want to make better use of my time. Between demands at work and home, I don’t stop running until midnight. Since hiring a personal assistant will not happen in the foreseeable future, I asked friends and family what they rely on to help them save time, be more efficient, even make money. They recommended:

Cozi was hands down the most recommended among my mom friends. This online family organizer and app offers a color-coded calendar, shopping lists, to do lists and more. One pal said it helps transition the kids to take charge of their own calendars.

Besides envying my California-based friends for the weather, they now have HopSkipDrive, a rideshare for busy parents. Can’t pick up your child because you’re stuck in a meeting or have conflicting after school activities? Trust HopSkipDrive’s vetted CareDrivers to take your precious cargo to their destinations. Prices start at $12 for a ride that is within five miles and 30 minutes.

Growing up with four other siblings in a three-bedroom home, I had to learn to keep the clutter to a minimum. Laundry day, I make time to go through our clothes and closets to set aside items that need to be thrown away, donated and sold. So when spring-cleaning weather comes around, I’m ready to hit the Salvation Army to donate and sites like the free VarageSale app to sell pre-loved items.

A nut allergy has made our daughter extremely nervous about buying lunch at her school. Needless to say, it’s been challenging to come up with lunches for the entire school year. LaLa Lunchbox, a free app, turns meal planning into a game. Kids can select foods for their meals with monsters, colors and sounds and those choices turn into a grocery list.

What’s your favorite app or time-saving trick?
