Listen, we’re all busy. It can be tricky to find the best products for our kids AND get everything else we need to get to … every. single. day. Breezy Mama is always thrilled to learn about new goods and after hearing about Nyme Organics — skin care products for kids that are organic, natural, sustainable, responsibly harvested and certified gluten-free — we had to find out more! Founder Lauren Penn gives us the scoop!
Why Nyme Organics?
Well, we did it for our daughters. They’re now 4 and almost 2. But when they were younger, our oldest developed a really bad rash on her neck and chest. We mean red and raw. So, we went looking for anything to take the pain away. Doctors prescribed steroid creams and ointments, and what was in stores was either zinc-heavy or some sticky, greasy mess made of ingredients we didn’t recognize. So we decided enough is enough; there has to be a better, safer way. Out of that came Bun Glaze. Within 24 hours, the rash was almost gone. 48 hours later there was no redness, no rash, no nothing. After that, we started looking at soap alternatives, eczema remedies and natural moisturizers that didn’t contain junk. What we have now is a collection of safe, healthy, natural, gluten-free and even Paleo skin products.
What makes Nyme Organics different from everything else on the shelves?
We don’t use a single ingredient you haven’t heard of or maybe used in the kitchen. We’re talking simple, natural, organic ingredients like coconut and olive oils, Shea and cocoa butters, mandarin, marshmallow root, aloe, beeswax, chamomile and calendula flowers. We even found the only farmer in the U.S. who grows gluten-free oats! Sounds almost too simple right? But in the right combination— and even by themselves— these handpicked ingredients have amazing, soothing powers, and they won’t hurt you or your kids. We also take the European approach when it comes to products we use. The U.S. bans less than a dozen ingredients when it comes to personal care products. Europe? 100 times that many. So you’ll never find stuff like toxic chemicals or synthetic fragrances. If you wouldn’t put it “in” your body, why put it “on” your body, right?
If I had to recommend one (or two) Nyme products…
Tough choice, but I’d probably say Bun Glaze. Not just because of what it’s done for our own daughter, but what we’ve heard from other parents. It works, it works well and it works quickly. We’ve seen it firsthand, and for a baby in pain, what else can you ask? Selfishly, we also love the Bluebird Castile Soap. One, because it’s so gentle, you can use it for bath time, shampoo, you name it (we have it as hand soap in the bathrooms, too!). Two, it’s about as versatile as you can get: windows, general cleaning, you name it. This stuff is a workhorse, and we constantly have parents and grandparents emailing us with new concoctions and new uses they dream up. It’s pretty remarkable.
