Sponsored: Pampers Helps Celebrate Your Firsts

Being pregnant for the first time–it’s something that I’ll never forget. I experienced so many different things that I had never gone through before–from huge boobs to bad backs to varicose veins–the good, the bad and the ugly hit me. But when that precious child made his first cry into the world, the beautiful hit me as well. And when I became pregnant the second time, I had a whole new round of firsts, because each of my pregnancies were so different from the other. But the wonderful feeling of holding your child, full of that sweet baby smell, hit me like a fist each time–I was experiencing a first all over again.

Watching the video above, those memories come flooding back and my eyes fill with tears. Pampers records every first–from the sonogram to being wheeled down the hallway to the hospital, and then the journey beyond. The video has

captured all the fears I had as a first time mom, as well as the excitement and laughter that came with the journey.

You forget how tiny a newborn is, and just how small the diaper they wear is. I distinctly remember the nurse handing me a Pampers newborn diaper, with the yellow band around the top, and how I had to remember which was the back, and to make sure to hold it down in front while I was changing my baby so I didn’t get peed on. . . something that seemed like I’d never master. But, I did, and I became a dedicated Pampers user after that. There’s something profound about touching that soft diaper, that it sticks with you forever. Each time my children went up a diaper size (remember there was a time when you didn’t realize there were diaper sizes?!), it was a joyous occasion, “Look how much they’re growing!”. Pampers are now available through size 6, so the Pampers softness lasts even longer throughout the diapering years.

Pampers even helped my babies sleep longer. With 12 hours of overnight protection they kept my kiddos (and the crib!) dry, so they didn’t wake prematurely, which translated into more sleep for all of us. Even when I started using cloth diapers with my daughter, I always put her in Pampers when she went to bed at night.

There’s nothing cuter than a giggly baby running around with just a diaper on. To this day, each time I see one of those little fuzzy diapers with that yellow band on top, my heart goes out to it, and I smile thinking of all the firsts that happened when my children had those diapers on.
