  1. It was my favorite book! I still love it! I think I have always just loved the drawings and the story. Now my daughter loves the book as much as I did(do)!

  2. Yes, our entire family LOVED the book!!! What a wonderful way to introduce healthy fruits and veggies to children 🙂

  3. Don’t remember reading it as a child, but sure enjoy it now as a children’s librarian!

  4. I loved the book! I loved all the food he ate while crawling along…it was fun trying to stick your finger through all of the holes he “ate” threw counting everything as you read along! I wish I could have eaten everything he did especially the lollipop, chocolate cake, an ice cream cone, cherry pie and a cupcake 😉

  5. I don’t remember it as a child, but my son loves it!

  6. Victoria Portugal says

I loved the book!! I loved the story and thought the caterpillar was so cute. I would go in my backyard trying to find caterpillars.

  7. We love that book so much that my daughter WAS the very hungry caterpillar for Halloween last year! I made the costume and had a blast trying to get every detail right. We love the silliness of the caterpillar eating all of the crazy people food, but we also love the realistic side that teaches about metamorphosis.

  8. I absolutely love that book! I don’t really remember reading it as a child (although I might have), but I’m a teacher and have read it to many, many children throughout the years. My own two children loved the book as well. Eric Carle is one of my favorite author/illustrators.

  9. Aili Gardea says

I don’t remember it from my own childhood but my oldest child received this as a gift from my Aunt as a baby and we have enjoyed reading it to all of our children over the years. The pages are well worn now but it’s still a favorite!

  10. I was always fascinated w/the drawings and as an adult understand why..I draw ad paint!

  11. Lesa Dierking says

I am almost 50 (ugh!) and I don’t necessarily remember it from my own childhood. However, as a former early childhood and elementary educator, public library story time employee, and mother, I have used this book oodles and dozens of times. I have also made flannel board sets for kids to use to retell the story, and just have fun with. The story is a classic in it’s beautiful illustration style, as well as step process of the story details. What a wonderful book by a wonderful author/illustrator!

  12. I met The Very Hungry Caterpillar as a teacher and introduced him to my three sons! Fabulous illustrations!

  13. Congrats to Beth! You were selected at random – thank you to everyone for entering. Beth, enjoy your prize pack!
