Madagascar Math Ops - Paid Icon

It seems like only yesterday that I thought to myself, “Wow… not much new in kids entertainment.” Then POW! BOOM! My email in box was suddenly flooded! From a new Flinstones movie,  a PBS “Do it Yourself Reading Program” to keep your kids up to speed this summer, the scoop on Disney’s upcoming Million Dollar Arm (with Jon Hamm…ahem) and so much more, here is what’s new for kids entertainment.

Madagascar Math Ops
The big new rule in our house is if you want screen time, make it educational! Thankfully, this new mobile game does just that with the wisecracking Penguins of DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar franchise! Here’s the scoop:

“Madagascar Math Ops™ offers the choice of thousands of math lessons, ranging from addition and subtraction to multiplication and division. Players can also choose between first through fourth grade math levels and three difficulty modes. These features, in addition to the input of educational experts on the game’s curriculum, position Madagascar Math Ops as a sure staple in every child’s math review.”

$2.99 — OR — limited free version will be available.

Warner Brothers has teamed up with family friendly entertainment company WWE to bring a NEW Flinstone’s movie. Get ready for Fred, Barney, Wilma, Bamm-bamm and the gang to come to a new feature DVD/ Blu Ray screen spectacular SOON!

Free 10 week DIY Summer Reading Camp
For me, summer break is SO CLOSE I can practically taste the ocean spray salt! In honor of my favorite season, PBS has teamed up with and has a Do It Yourself Summer Reading Camp. As they say, kids who don’t read during our beloved break can fall THREE reading levels behind. GULP! Never fear… they have put together a fun program with a new theme each week (bugs, heroes and more).

Pirates & Princesses Programming
And, as the sun begins to set, or you just need a break from the heat, Disney Jr has you covered with all new episodes of Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. And the fun won’t stop there! They say, “Notable guest stars include Academy Award nominee Viola Davis (“The Help”) and Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”) on “Sofia the First,” and Jerry O’Connell (“Crossing Jordan”) on “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.” Classic Disney Princess Jasmine, voiced by Linda Larkin (“Aladdin”) and sung by Broadway legend Lea Salonga (“Miss Saigon”), makes her debut appearance on “Sofia the First.”

Get in on the fun starting Monday, June 10!

Disney’s Million Dollar Arm
Filming has begun on a new movie from Disney starring Jon Hamm (you know.. Mad Men). Here’s the scoop:
“Based on a true story, Disney’s “Million Dollar Arm” follows JB Bernstein, a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. He and his partner Aash (Aasif Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if JB doesn’t come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation? Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout (Alan Arkin) in tow, JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called “Million Dollar Arm” where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku and Dinesh (Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal), emerge as winners. JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House (Bill Paxton). The goal: get the boys signed to a major league team.”
Expect to see it hit theaters in 2014.
