Come On, It’s Time to Get a Quality Photo of You!

alex-002When Maria  from Have Your Cake Photography (also known as Breezy Mama‘s Etsy Guru)  asked if I would be interested in taking a Mother’s Day portrait, I didn’t hesitate in saying yes. I mean, how many photos do YOU have with your kids? If you’re like me, not too many. But when she replied, “Great! You know not to wear too much make-up, right? Just come as YOU.” I thought, “Uh-oh, she  just wants me to pose for the picture.” I relayed my concerns to which she replied, “Everyone needs a good portrait these days–for Facebook, LinkedIn, work. . .” And I thought, “She’s right, I’ll suck it up and get over my modesty and embarrassment of posing solo for a photo.”

And, lucky for me, needing a professional photo proved true the very next day. I needed a professional photo to go into a presentation for work, and I needed it STAT. You see, I’ve tried many a time to get a “bio” photo, and it never works. My eyes are closed, I need more makeup, the shirt doesn’t look right–you name it. See that photo to your right, on the sidebar, of me and Chelsea? That took THREE separate “photo shoots” –and not because of Chelsea, because of me. I’m terrible at having a “posed” photo being done.

So, I needed that photo for work, I needed it NOW, and I called Maria. In a rush of words, “Are you home right now? I know you have the girls with you, but can I come over an have that photo taken, in, umm, 10 minutes?” Luckily, Maria lives across the street. After an outfit change and a little more eye makeup, I ran across and the mug shot you see at top was the grand finale of a 15 minute shoot. Besides my hair being frizzy (I’ve been struggling with a BAD haircut) and my boobs being saggy (what we do for our babies), I’m pretty happy about it. And why am I telling you all this? Because you can do the same! Maria is offering mini portrait sessions, just in time for Mother’s Day–why don’t you treat yourself and get a professional photo taken? Believe you me, it’s all worth it.
