I recently met Nina and her mom, Karina, through Breezy Mama Alysha. Somehow, we got on the conversation of reading and writing and Karina told me that Nina loves to write book reviews–each time she finishes a book, she does a little synopsis on it. Talk about motivation! So, I thought what better way to let other moms know what a pre-teen likes to read than asking one herself? Here are some of her current favorites . . . –Alex

So, maybe he just got engaged to actress Kristen Bell of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Veronica Mars fame in February, but that hasn’t stopped Dax Shephard from tackling Parenthood… on TV of course. The show that started on NBC on Tuesday is a remake of a remake that all started when Executive Producer Ron Howard was barfed on on an airplane by his toddler daughter back in 1985. “Bryce [Dallas Howard, next to be seen in the Twighlight Saga: Eclipse] was sitting next to me on a plane to Buenos Aires,” the proud Papa and former Happy Days star shared. “I thought she might want to try sushi and she projectile vomitted on me. It was hour ONE of a 17 hour flight. I thought, ‘When and how did THIS happen to me.’”
And so a movie was born in 1989, followed by a TV show in 1990 and finally to Tuesday’s premier episode.
The current installment was put on hiatus last fall after Maura Tierney was diagnosed with breast cancer. When her treatment and the show’s schedule conflicted, Lauren Graham replaced her. “It’s so smart and the style of it is quite different, too,” the former Gilmore Girls star told Breezy Mama. “I wouldn’t be good on something where I couldn’t have a sense of humor.”
Like Graham, Dax’s character will play a single parent. Breezy Mama got the scoop from him on his feelings of working with such a large cast, how Parenthood is making him a homebody and more.
So are you ready to play a single dad?

If there’s one thing I watch with one hand over one eye while squinting through the other, it’s any of Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives reunion shows. After ALLLL the drama in a season, host Andy Cohen reunites the women and asks the tough questions such as how Laurie of Season 1 of Orange County feels that viewers think she’s a man (ouch!) or the first time the New Jersey wives came face to face again after Teresa flipped the table after an argument with Danielle – he’s in the center of every juicy moment. Breezy Mama got the scoop from Andy as to which encounter was the hardest, how the housewives feel about his intrusive questions, how he handles the crazies and more!

Sideline Reporter, Tina Dixon
A former professional snowboarder, and two time X Games Gold Medalist, Tina Dixon is no stranger to snow events. In 2001, after an injury left her sidelined and unable to compete, Tina joined ESPN’s Winter X Games broadcast. After talking into the mic at that event, Tina decided to pursue television on a full time basis and let competitive snowboarding take a backseat.
Since then, the Salt Lake City, Utah native has traveled the world covering the ASP World surf tour, stood on the sidelines of college football and interviewed celebrities and athletes worldwide.
Tina says she has the best seat in the house at events she covers and loves to hear and watch the stories unfold. She now heads to Canada for her second Olympic games as a sideline reporter and gives Breezy Mama the scoop on what to watch out for . . .
Let’s start with the basics—what Read More…
Tori Spelling is one busy mama of two! In addition to her 2 1/2 year old son Liam and her 1 1/2 year old daughter Stella, she is writing her THIRD book (the first two were best sellers), started the children’s clothing line little maven and the FIFTH season of her reality show with husband Dean McDermott, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood is about to hit the air this spring on Oxygen. Breezy Mama managed to catch her to get the scoop on the new season of her show and what she’ll write about in her new book.
Hitting the road this season — and we’re not talking in a five star way — the couple who were married in 2006 will be travelling in an RV. “Yes, we Read More…
Remember on The City when Whitney’s boss Kelly at the fashion PR house People’s Revolution asked that uber-skinny model if she was okay and told her she really should eat something? Or all the times Lauren got scolded by Kelly on The Hills? Or the time Kelly made Lauren fire She-Pratt? Juicy! And oh so much fun to watch. Just ask the television station Bravo because they are doing an entire show starting on Monday, Feb 1, based on her called: Kell on Earth. Yep, known first for being a hard core head honcho to Lauren on The Hills and later spending the majority of her time in charge at her NY offices with Whitney in tow, the take-no-prisoners-boss Kelly Cutrone now has her own show that will chronicle just how down and dirty she can be, but also show her life as a single mom. Um, an entire show because she’s gnarly? Um, was I slightly afraid to approach her for an interview? You betcha! Braving the flames of Kell, Breezy Mama got the scoop on her new show, how HER mom feels about her nasty ways, whether we’ll see any The Hills or The City crossovers and more. Read More…
This past December, we found out there was another cancerous mass in my daughter (stay tuned for that story). We’ve been on an emotional roller coaster–going back and forth from the hospital, having an unsuccessful surgery, and assuming that she would need chemotherapy. If this journey was filled with highs and lows for my husband and me, you can only wonder what our poor 4-year-old son, Kieran, was going through. “Why is Emily going back to the hospital? Why did her cancer come back? You mean she’s not going to have any hair?” These were all questions that he asked and we struggled to find the right answers. What helped? Books. My friend, Breezy Mama Karina, took it upon herself to research the best books to help explain to Kieran what was happening. Even if your kid doesn’t have cancer, but (heaven forbid) a sibling does get sick, or you’re trying to help out another’s child–turn to one of these. –Alex

The Seinfelds
It definitely hit me that there I was having some yada, yada, yada with Jerry Seinfeld himself. Before the days of owning my beloved DVR, I always made sure to be home on time to catch his iconic sitcom every single Thursday night. And there were times I actually wanted Elaine’s life. Flash forward from 1998 when Seinfeld went off the air to now, and not only do I have three kids, but Jerry does, too. In fact, he recently celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with his wife Jessica and has an upcoming reality show that SHE suggested he make. And here’s the catch: it’s based on their petty fights as a long time (yes, ten years is a long time these days) married couple. You may have seen the ads featuring Jerry on NBC, but he actually will not be appearing on The Marriage Ref — that will let couples each tell their side of their argument (nothing to do with the kids or anything serious, more along the lines of, ‘Do you have to keep THAT chair’), but he is a producer and spoke to Breezy Mama on when wedded bliss is a little amiss and more.
What does love mean to you?

Here in Southern California, official headquarters of Breezy Mama, it has rained (almost) nonstop for two days. Now, for those of you who live elsewhere, please do not laugh. For us So Cal people, TWO DAYS of rain is a mighty long time. We’re just not used to it. And the worst thing? It’s supposed to continue for at least three more days. Did I mention it never rains here? As a result, we’ve been forced to batten down the hatches and stay inside and . . . amuse the children. I’m finding that this may not be the easiest thing to do, especially with a certain four-year-old who has an attention span of about ten minutes. In case you’re experiencing the same–whether you, too, are in Southern California, or if you’re stuck in snow, these ideas Read More…
Amy Poehler is one of today’s great comediennes, has paved the way for the next generation of funny women, is an SNL vet, star of hit movies like Baby Mama and is a producer of her TV show Parks and Recreation, but if I’m being honest, when meeting her, it’s hard not to focus on one thing… she’s as cute as a button. Once I got past how petite the blonde hair, big blue-eyed actress is, I discovered she is just as quick witted in person as she is on television and in movies. Answering my Breezy Mama questions including how it was working with her husband in the first episode of the New Year on Parks and Recreation, Amy also shared why life as a mom to her one year old son Archie has made Saturday Night not so “live,” and Read More…
