Heading up to Los Angeles on Sunday with my son for the red carpet premier for ParaNorman was a blast. Though getting to meet the stars is completely lost on my 6 year old who’s main concern was whether or not there would be popcorn, it was such a treat for me to have him there by my side. As we found our spot marked “Breezy Mama” as the cast started to walk in, I was very excited to see Whit Honea, a “daddy” blogger who I’ve gotten to hang with at events in the past, with his son, too.

It was a hot day at Universal City Walk but always a treat for me to get to see the actors, including Leslie Mann, Anna Kendrick, Tempestt Bledsoe and so many more. What can I say? Some people enjoy scrap booking, knitting and Words with Friends, while I am completing addicted to all things Hollywood. Whit and his friend who brought along his daughter, hung with the kids inside when it got a little too sweaty for the kids and even I had to call it after Anna Kendrick passed by.
As we headed into the movie (see my ParaNorman review), low and behold, they were giving out free popcorn, gummies and soda! When the creator introduced himself to the packed theater,

My son was quite the happy man… of course that had nothing to do with the actors, but his mouth full of popcorn. Not to mention after the movie, we headed for frozen yogurt (gotta love the Hello Kitty theme at Yogurtland), checked out comic books stores, spaceship stores (as he put it) and so much more followed by a dinner just the two of us.

It’s not often we get an entire day together 100 miles from home, so it was definitely a special one. And to see a movie we both liked? Other worldly. Much like Norman himself.
Again though, make sure to read my ParaNorman review, as this movie is definitely not for everyone, but we sure had a blast!
