When one gets asked to try out a new salon, they must go into it knowing that it’s all or nothing–no “just take an inch off” will cut it (no pun intended.) So when Breezy Mama Contributing Editor, Melissa Ota tried out the new ByuTi Salon, she did exactly that. . .
Rarely do I have the time, money, or guts to experiment with a new salon. After a few scarring cuts and countless stylists promising their treatments would solve my crunchy split ends I’ve finally found my savior, Natasha Sunshine-Antonioni.
Natasha recently debuted her second ByuTi Salon (pronounced Beauty) in Brentwood, California. True to her surname, Natasha has achieved her goal of “giving goodness” with integrity, excellence, and professionalism.
Entering the unassuming salon you are embraced with tons of natural light. The modern accents in a clean and beautiful layout make the most of the space without feeling overcrowded. I raved about how much I loved it to a man that I later found out designed it himself, Natasha’s husband Dario Antonioni!
Initially hesitant to get a haircut other than my typical “½” off the bottom” I reminded myself that today I was going to see what these ladies were capable of and ask for what I actually wanted! My stylist, Mindy R., cheerily sat me down and asked a series of detailed questions regarding my desired cut before whisking me away to the wash stations.
I was introduced to the concept of ByuTi’s custom blenders, reparative treatments that literally restore your hair to child-like softness. After years of slowly watching my hair become more brittle with age I’m excited to find a treatment that actually makes my hair feel younger. Mindy’s hands became one with the scissors as a mental image of her as Edward Scissorhands and me as the topiary flashed across my mind. My face must have revealed the slight panic I felt as large pieces of my hair fell in a steady stream to the floor because Mindy was quick to explain her cuts. She educated me on invisible layers and gave a thorough how-to session on blow drying and styling my hair at home. The final result? My thoughts translated into reality and the haircut I’ve wanted for years.
The compliments have been flowing for a solid week now and I’ve definitely gotten incentive to return. I’m eagerly awaiting my next blender!
