Chelsea and I have our high school reunion coming up this summer, and when it came to what we should wear, we had no idea where to start. So, naturally, we turned to Breezy Mama Fashion Editor Vanessa for some help. She took us to the local mall and put together some ideas consisting of dresses and cute top/pant combos that would work. And even if your reunion isn’t this summer, these ideas would work well for weddings, showers, even that summer tradeshow you may have for work. Read on. . .
We had two and a half hours to make some magic, so dear Vanessa headed to the mall earlier that day to do some scouting. She put things on hold in four stores–Ann Taylor, Nordstom’s, Banana Republic and H&M. Since we had no idea of what we were looking for, Vanessa chose a plethora of items–boxy shirts and sexy shirts. Dresses and pants. Here are some of the things we saw, that would work, store by store.
Neither Chelsea and I have ever shopped in Ann Taylor before, so we didn’t know what to expect when Vanessa lead us in. She had the items lined up (picture at top), some of which were:
Aztec Antiquity Print Top: A full, tunic-y style blouse that’s dramatic in color, but modest in cut. On sale for $69.99. Click here to view.
Color Block Shell: A simple, but chic top that is made out of crepe and hangs beautifully. Also available in brown/black color combo. $68.00. Click here to view.
Curvy Straight Leg Pants: Both of the above tops would look great with these trouser type pants. $88.00. Click here to view.
Exotic Print Dress: The great thing about this dress is that the neutral colors can be worn at a wedding, shower, reunion or just out to dinner. Even better, dress it up with heels, or down with flat sandals. On sale for $139.99. Click here to view.
Next up was Nordstrom’s, where Vanessa had several adorable dresses picked out. Our favorite was:
Maggy London Stripe Jersey Sheath Dress: Absolutely sexy, with enough coverage to make you comfortable wearing it around Grandma. Beautiful colors in a stripe print. Our favorite find of the evening. $138.00. Click here to view.
Though Banana has a ton of cute items this season, all of it seemed a bit too casual for our reunion mission. However, we did fall in love with this dress:
Silk Claire Printed Sheath: Such a cute pattern, with the back of the dress being absolutely adorable. Vanessa also exclaimed excitedly, “It has pockets!” No need to carry a purse. Great to wear to all of your summer events. $130.00 Click here to view.
We saved the best for last and headed to the superstore after Banana Republic. Vanessa had discovered top after top that were not only adorable, but inexpensive as well. Jackpot!
However, the H&M site only shows a few things from their line, and of course, I can’t find anything we saw! Below are pics of what we loved–you can take them into the store, or, if you like the style, you can emulate with another company’s line.
This tangerine colored top had full coverage, but the material was very light, and it hung beautifully. The cute “tie” accessory is connected to a mock turtleneck-like collar, so wearing your hair up would look lovely.
All of these H&M tops would look great with a pair of dressy black cigarette pants, like these from Express:
Studio Stretch Columinist Pant, $59.50. Click here to view.
Lastly, we took a quick tour of Love D shoe store, and found these cute (and at $31.00 affordable!) high heels which would look great with any of the above outfits:
