  1. Anita Truckenmiller says:

I loved my daughter’s monkey costume that she used the past two years. Sadly, she’s outgrown it and little brother isn’t quite big enough to fit it this year.

  2. Our family has done the Scooby Doo Gang before. We had Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby. It was so cute!

  3. devon and i went to my niece’s birthday party and dressed up as slash (me) and my guitar (devon)…danny probably would have been axl. it was fun!

  4. My all time favorite costume for my kids has been the bunny rabbit. It’s timeless.

  5. Tracy Shringarpure says:

If I had the budget, I would love to dress our family up as some Pixar theme. My littlest one (she’s 2.5) would make a fabulous Boo (making my 4 year old daughter Mike Wazowski, me Sully, and my husband Randall) or Edna Mode (making the 4 year old Dash, me the killer robot orb and my husband Mr. Incredible.)

So far, they’ve decided their own costumes and last year went as matching ballerina-fairy-kitties.

  6. I am an ECE professional who loves beautiful materials for play and especially dramatic play, so hence, I am a fan of Sarah’s Silks. I would love to have a chance at the prizes today! I also do a lot of consulting with under-funded ECE program and might very well re-gift!

And in answer to your question, my very favorite costume was totally homemade from my grandmother’s closet. I was gipsy and it was my very first Halloween at age 10 or so. I did not grow up in the US but my family was visiting my grandparents in Miami around Halloween time (my grandmummy was dying of terminal cancer) and one of my uncles took my sister and I out trick-or-treating. She was a cowboy, as I recall. My second favorite costume was in college. I rented a nun habit from a theatrical company, hiked it up with a belt, added lots of bracelets and necklaces and went as a bad nun (inspired by 80s Madonna!)

  7. Last year we went as Scooby Doo characters & I think this year we are going the Star Wars route!

  8. This year our son is going to mimic his dad and be a fireman and our daughter will donning a kitty cat costume! My husband and I were bride of Frankenstein & Frankenstein last year & I thought it would be cute to do the same this year and dress our kids in the mini costumes. I got veto’d by my 2 & 1/2 year olds! Oh well… Maybe next year!

  9. his first stand up costume (I mean when he was walking) was a lion the roared, LOVED it.

his first halloween he was in the nicu (one of his nicu mates had just gotten out and her parents got her a mummy costume at build a bear which I thought was an awesome idea)and not ready yet for clothes…

  10. I was still deciding what to do for our son and then one of our friends commented that the outfit he was wearing pretty much was a costume. It was a hand-me-down Baby Gap organic cream-colored kimono top over cream overalls, and he looked like a little Jedi. So this year he’s going to be a Jedi!

  11. We love having theme years. We’ve put our boys in Pooh & Tigger costumes one year, a scarecrow and a pumpkin costume last year and this year they’re actually at the stage to be able to request Woody & Buzz from Toy Story.

  12. My favorite costumes were the year my husband and I met. We made our costumes, I was a ladybug and he was optimus prime. He won more awards than I did but it was great for us to bond and share our love of Halloween and crafting. 🙂

  13. I’m the oldest of 6 – my favorite costume was my mother’s version of the old woman who lived in the shoe. We fashioned the wagon to look like a shoe and she pulled my 2 youngest brothers around in it while the older ones trick-or-treated.

  14. I wonder if my family would go for a Twilight theme this year…

  15. One year I decided too own my short stature and dressed as an oompa loompa. The costume was the talk of the party and was award winning. It took over an hour in tge shower to wash out the hair dye and face paint!

  16. Our family went as Captain Hook(hubby) Tinker Bell(me), Wendy(my four year old) and Peter Pan(my 2 yr old)last year…it was pretty funny.

  17. When I only had two kids and they were young enough to go with whatever I wanted them to be, my daughter was the princess and her younger brother the frog! Now that they are older, my daughter wants to be Gabriella from H.S. Musical and the boys want to be storm Troopers! Alas, I don’t get to have a say in their costumes anymore! But I LOVE the toy story idea!

  18. The year I got pregnant with our second daughter, we went as a damsel in distress (me), my husband was a knight (in shining armour) and our daughter was a dragon. It was super cute and so fun!

  19. My 5 year old wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up so she’s going to be a vet this year & my 1 year old will be a kitty.

  20. Our family was the FLINTSONES last year. Awewome.

  21. Christina Moore says:

One year my family planned our costumes with another family, they were cowboys and we were Indians. Cowboy and Indian Costumes are pretty easy to find for little kids and adults, which will make your life much easier!

  22. OMG, this is great! Reminds me of the site that shows pics of cute babies in adorable costumes.

Let’s share pics of our tots dressed up for Halloween!

  23. My favorite costumes are illusion costumes so I loved a costume where I had the scream ghost on my back, attacking me. I also loved my daughter’s first costume– a butterfly 🙂

  24. sweet girl 555 says:

my favorite costume is between my homemade jesse costume (from toy story), my kim possible costume (also homemade), or my pink pirate costume.

    i <3 unicorns!!!
