The kiddos loved testing out the snacks--my daughter only looks mad because I'm interrupting her eating by making her say "cheese." Here they are giving the Wholly Wholesome cookies their seal of approval.

When my daughter went from being a baby to a toddler, one of the things that I had forgotten was how you constantly have to pack snacks. I had taken for granted that I could whoosh my four-year-old out of the house on a moment’s notice. My daughter on the other hand, constantly needs to fuel her little body, which means I have to remember the snacks before I step into the car. As I rushed through the kitchen on our way out the door, I realized that I was only packing carbs–crackers, Cheerios–that sort of thing–because they were easy and needed no refrigeration. My new mission–to find a carb-less, easy to pack snack that my toddler loved. The following won us both (and my 4 year old!) over. –Alex
Plum Organics Tots, Strawberry Mish Mash
This one is going first because my daughter sucks these things down faster than I drink my morning coffee. She absolutely loves them. They’re easy to throw in your bag and make no mess. When she’s done, I just screw the lid back on and if there isn’t a trashcan in sight, I just put it back in my purse. 100% fruit puree that’s organic and the packaging is BPA free–what more could you want?
Gerber Graduates Yogurt Blends
My daughter loves yogurt. I mean really loves it. She could eat it for every meal and snack if I let her. But yogurt is a pain because it requires refrigeration–until now. Gerber made these blends that don’t need to be cold until you open it up. So, you can grab one as you leave and eat it three hours later, if needed. Even better, they have Omega 3 Fat, 7 different vitamins for healthy growth, and Vitamins A and E for immune support. Sweet!
Trader Joe’s Apple Strawberry Fruityflakes
My son loves fruit snacks, or “gummy gums” as he calls them. Problem is, they’re a choking hazard for my daughter, and she HAS TO HAVE what he has. So, when I stumbled upon these at Trader Joe’s, they were a God-send. You get all the chewiness of a fruit snack, but they’re cut very small–almost like they took a fruit leather and diced it up. Thus, no fear of choking. And, they’re 97% fruit. Love it!
Wholly Wholesome Oatmeal Raisin Frozen Cookie Dough
I know, I know, cookies aren’t what first comes to mind when picking out healthy snacks, but since the ingredients are all-natural and wholesome, you can’t feel bad about having this treat once in a while! 70% organic and made with no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or additives, and so easy to make (just pop ‘em in the oven for 13 minutes) you’ll find that you can’t get enough. They taste just as an oatmeal cookie ought to: crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Yuuuuuum.
Revolution Foods Organic Jammy Sammy
When I was a kid, my mom would make my brother and me “treats” of peanut butter and jelly squished between graham crackers. These Grammy Sammy’s conjure up those memories. They’re oh so good, and packaged individually, making them super easy to tote. Organic, with no trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, or artificial ingredients. Plus, the company gives 3% for Healthy School Lunches. Makes everyone happy.
Brothers-All-Natural Fuji Apple Crisps
These are freeze dried apple pieces that come in individual bags. They’re just plain fruit (each bag contains about 1 1/2 Fuji apples!) with no added ingredients. Breezy Mama Alison introduced me to them–she had given one to my daughter and Em wouldn’t put it down until she had gotten–every–last–crumb. Available in a variety of flavors, all of which are good.
Plum Organic Tots Fiddlesticks
A bit cracker, but made from fruit and veggies–you get the best of both worlds with this treat. Perfectly sized to hold in tiny hands, they don’t make a mess when bitten into. Gluten free and organic–added bonuses to a already good thing.

My three kids love FRUIT. Any kind, anywhere.
Wow, so many yummy things I never knew about! My kids are older and LOVE the fruit leather. I’ll have to try the fruity flakes. My kids love all kinds of fruit – especially berries in the summer. I just wash and put them in a plastic container and they are happy, happy, happy!
Little boxes of organic raisens!
My little guy loves yogurt melts and fresh fruit in the self feeder mesh things, top picks are blueberries and melon.
Hard-boiled eggs!
Avocados! My almost 1 year old LOVES them- I just slice in half and feed her little spoonfuls.
My 4 year old loves apples & blueberries.
My daughter loves the apple sauce mashers!
We love Ella’s Kitchen organic babyfood and Lifeway organic probug smoothies. Both come in the easy to drink pouch. We also like to bring sliced apples and fruit—less garbage. But the other 2 a favorite in a hurry!!
My son absolutely LOVES bananas! He gets super excited any time he sees me get a banana for him.
my son still loves breastmilk only- he is 6.5 months, and we keep trying to get him to like food, to no avail! i am going to try the fruity flakes myself, though!
i just saw the plum tots, mish mash at the grocery store (ralphs in the baby/toddler section) which is very convenient. i will be sure to try them when our little man gets bigger. Thanks Alex.
These are all great suggestions. I also wanted to recommend Trader Joe’s freeze dried fruit. My son loves the strawberries, bananas, blueberries and mangoes. It’s all the fruit minus the sticky, messy juice. Perfect for on-the-go snacking!
(And, they’re good for grown-ups, too. Throw a handful of any of them into some oatmeal and it makes a bland breakfast super yummy!)
These are all great suggestions!
Kareen–the Plum Organics makes two lines–one for the babies and the other for the Tots, so you could use the Tots for Eva–Kieran loves them.
Leah–I just discovered those TJ’s freeze dried fruit–my daughter goes bananas (no pun intended) over them.
Rebecca–are the probiotic drinks you’re talking about come in a individual size? Like the Danimals do?
my little girl loves sliced apple and sliced cheese, yum!
My daughter LOVES the Jammy Sammy Strawberry Jam and PB snacks. I’m ordering 12 boxes today from Ecomom thanks to the coupon code!
