Delish Dish: Creamy Garlic Dressing

I have my mother-in-law to thank for this delicious dressing recipe. My husband and I are obsessed–we’ve been making it all the time and yesterday, as I was licking the mixing bowl clean (you think I’m joking, don’t you?) I thought I should share the love with the Breezy Mama readers. You can use it on any type of salad, but it’s garlicky, so I usually stick to a Caesar salad theme. The one I made last night had romaine lettuce, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, croutons and Parmesan cheese. A word of warning–a little goes a long way, so taste as you go, because if you overcoat the salad, it will be ruined. –Alex

Bravo TV's Andy Cohen Talks Refereeing The Real Housewives

If there’s one thing I watch with one hand over one eye while squinting through the other, it’s any of Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives reunion shows. After ALLLL the drama in a season, host Andy Cohen reunites the women and asks the tough questions such as how Laurie of Season 1 of Orange County feels that viewers think she’s a man (ouch!) or the first time the New Jersey wives came face to face again after Teresa flipped the table after an argument with Danielle – he’s in the center of every juicy moment. Breezy Mama got the scoop from Andy as to which encounter was the hardest, how the housewives feel about his intrusive questions, how he handles the crazies and more!

You are often a referee…

Tell me about.

What was one of the more intense times you had to jump in?

Kelly’s daughter’s room is a shabby chic theme, so whenever we’re together, we’re always on the lookout for new and fun ideas to add to it. (Ummm, yes, I love to live vicariously through other people’s kid’s rooms). I loved this lamp so much, that voila!, I decided to do a kid’s room decor centered around it. Here you go . . .

Your Go-To Outfit: Kid’s Birthday Party

I don’t know about you, but I’m always wondering what to wear when the family attends a birthday party–you want to look cute, but you need to be casual enough to (depending on the party) go down slides, jump in ball pits, dance around, etc. As a result, I always feel like I look too casual and sloppy. So for this month, I asked Vanessa to put together an outfit that could go to any children’s party–no matter where it was held. As always, Vanessa didn’t disappoint. . .

From Vanessa:

The look of chinos is great, especially when you have many “children related” activities going on.  You want to look cute/nice, but maybe you want something different from the jeans look.  This weekend wear outfit will take you to all those Read More…

10 Things To Do Instead of Time Out

Time outs became the new spanking; And now time outs are as dated as MySpace. Here’s my deal – if time outs don’t work and spanking is for cavemen, then how in the world do we get the kids to listen? Luckily, Amy McCready – who has been featured on the Today Show for her fab parenting advice and founder of Positive Parenting Solutions – gives Breezy Mama 10 proven alternatives.

From Amy:

Your child misbehaves. What do you do? For many parents, “Time Out” is the go-to strategy. It’s the “one size fits all” strategy for most misbehaviors – big and small.

When I ask parents how well “Time Out” works for them, I often hear: “It doesn’t work” or “It works GREAT! I use it every day!” I have to keep from laughing when Read More…

Drugstore Shampoos-Do they lather up compared to the salon brands?

Are drugstore shampoos and conditioners just as good as the salon brands? In Breezy Mama’s on-going quest to bring you the best products for the lowest prices, we turned to makeup artist Jill Kloster — who has worked in the entertainment industry from commercials like Target to reality shows like The Bachelor — to find out. Jill did extensive research of several shampoo types and gave each her final grade — with some falling flat! So, before you try out a less expensive brand, let Jill save you the money by reading on.

From Jill:

There is nothing better than the feel of your hair after you leave the hair salon. What is it? The water, the massage, the shampoo? My thoughts immediately gravitate towards the shampoo. At the reception desk, you ask what kind they used and nine times out of ten, the price is outrageous. My goal? To get that wonderful, soft, hair from Read More…
