Talking Turkey with Actress Martha Byrne
The former General Hospital star, currently working on Gotham: The Series and mother of three, Martha Byrne opens up with Breezy Mama on her Thanksgiving traditions.
Where will you celebrate Thanksgiving this year?
I host Thanksgiving every year at my home. We have a large Irish family and we have a sit down dinner for approximately 35 people every year. My mother cooks the turkey and the stuffing –the best — and the rest of the kids cook the sides and the desserts.
Do you cook?
I LOVE to cook. I cook as often as possible. Since my family has a hectic schedule with school, sports and other activities, I tend to cook large dishes that I freeze to serve during the week. I’ve been getting more adventurous with spices and thinking outside my usual dishes, which has proven to be a hit with the kids. I can hide spinach in anything.
Martha's kids.
What’s your signature dish?
I cook a spinach chicken parmesan pasta dish that is simple and delicious.
What item can’t you live without on Thanksgiving?
My mother’s sausage stuffing. Unreal.
What are you thankful for this year?
I’m thankful every year for my family’s health and happiness.
Where can fans watch Gotham: The Series?
[They can visit] www.gothamtheseries.com and YouTube.
Martha and Co-Star Michael Park
Can you tell us what it’s about?
Gotham is the story of Catherine Prescott (Martha Byrne) and Richard Manning (Michael Park). After not seeing each other for many years, they cross paths again at a party in the suburbs of NY. The audience will follow their rediscovery of each other and what their lives have become since their last meeting 20 years ago.
Who is your character?
Catherine Prescott is a divorced mother of one. The top sales executive for Nicole Miller, Catherine’s life is one of daily lattes, sales meetings and many solo nights of popcorn and a movie on her couch. Everything in Catherine’s life runs like a well oiled machine until Richard Manning steps back into her life.
Anything else you’d like to share?
All parties involved in Gotham have decades of daytime television experience. We consider this show a give back to the dedication of the legions of fans that have made soap opera successful.
