Kids Room Decor: Nautical

oops eaze pillowsWhen I was pregnant for the first time, one of the things I was most excited about was creating the nursery. To be able to take a blank room, and turn it into whatever you wanted. . . well, you just don’t get the chance to do that very often. I absolutely love kids decor, and if I could, I’d change the room around all the time. Instead, I’ll just live vicariously and pass ideas on to you–starting with a nautical theme.

Under the Sea Toddler Pillows by Oops-Eaze
The pattern of these pillows are that wonderful balance of sophistication with cuteness. Anchors, buoys, and what remind me of “ocean bubbles” decorate the pillows, all in a muted green, blue and red. The pillows are backed with super soft, 100% cotton chenille. For a complete coordinated look, you can pair them with their Under the Sea Blankets. Pillows, $25.00 each, click here to order.

Artist Jeff Canham’s recent work evokes thoughts of being a sailor–he draws inspiration from nautical terms, flags and patterns. Canham also shows that “nautical” doesn’t necessarily mean red and blue. His works feature a palette of colors, including pink and orange for the little girl in your life.  Contact Canham for prices and availability by clicking here.

These decals are too-die-for cute (and Breezy Mama Kajsa says they are easy to apply as well!). The circles remind me of bubbles streaming through the water. The site also carries decals of octopi which can be used if you want to incorporate some sea life in your wee one’s room. Click here for circles, and here for the octupi. Colors and prices vary.

For the ultimate nautical themed bedroom, this bed is a must. Yes, it is a HUGE splurge, but how awesome is it? And how stoked will your kid be? I’d bet he’d think it was even radder than you thought Ricky Schroder’s race car bed was. Speedboat bed, $1,599.00 -  $1,799.00, click here to order.

The fabulous thing is, you don’t need to have another baby–the nautical theme makes a great room for big kids too!

This speedboat bed is awsome, my four year old has been asking for a boat bed now that he’s ready for a big boys bed, the speedboat bed would be ideal.

Go for it! :) It’s actually a trundle bed, so you get two beds for that price. (Makes it a bit easier to pull the trigger.)
