5 Make-up Tips and Tricks to Keep You Looking Bright Eyed
Breezy Mama Kelly is one of the world’s most beautiful women with or without make-up! Growing up as an actress (she was in several Barbie commercials, Charles in Charge, Highway to Heaven, Kids Incorporated, etc. and later in life in a Super Bowl commercial and a Ford commercial), she was known as ‘Queen of the Caboodle’ for her ready-to-head -to-LA-for-an-audition tricks of the make-up trade. Now as a mother of three, she can get just as tired as the rest of us and shares her favorite beauty tips she’s learned over the years and the products that can give you that bright-eyed appearance after even the worst of the up-with-the-kids nights.
Have some days where you feel tired? Even a little, um, old? These beauty items are sure bets on making you feel (or at least make you look) as well rested and youthful as you did BEFORE you had kids with little or no effort:
5. Concealer: I never truly knew what a magical product concealer was until I was on day five of no sleep with my first child. Always stick with a yellow- based concealer, it offsets the blue circles and looks more natural. My favorite: Bobby Brown Creamy Concealer and Powder All-in-One (as seen above — click here to purchase). Just dab a little from the corner of your eye to right under your pupil and blend. Then you can set it with a little brush of the powder. Voila! Instant brightness to your face and eyes! It really can transform your face.
4. Cream Blush: ESPECIALLY if you are 30 or over, cream blush is the way to go. Powered blush tends to settle into wrinkles accentuating them. Cream blush gives a much more youthful glow. Just put a little color on the apples of your cheeks and blend outward towards your hairline where you would naturally blush. I LOVE these two. First, Tarte’s Natural Beauty (click here to purchase) –gives you a gorgeous natural flush, like your child’s rosy cheeks when she wakes up from a nap! Tip- I use it on my lips too for some lasting color. Also, Almay Smart Shade in Berry (click here to purchase) which adjusts its shade to your own skin tone.
3. Lip Gloss: It is all about shine and color. Shine adds volume to your lips and makes them look kissable. Color adds and instant “pop” and can make you look refreshed. My favorites: Sonia Kashuk Lip Glossing in First Date #35 (head to Target to purchase) . It looks way too bright in the tube, but goes on to give a you a perfect peachy-pink color. Also to try, Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss with SPF 15 in Punch. It adds a hint of pink to your lips and smells like a candy cane-an instant mood lifter! And I love that it has an SPF.
| 2. Eye Shadow: Nars Eye Shadow in Babygirl (click here to purchase) is light pink and has tiny gold flecks that make your eyes sparkle. It goes great with any color of eyes. Just swipe some across your lids for an eye-opening effect. And do you wanna be a little daring? Diamond Lil by Stila (click here to purchase) is a fabulous shade that is a little bit grey, a little bit green and has some shimmer. It goes great with blue, brown and green eyes. I like to wear it for a night out with the girls or a date night with the hubby. Just adding a swipe of this eye shadow changes your look and makes it look as if you actually put some effort into doing your makeup with no added effort at all! | ![]() |

1. Hair Powder: Have you heard the phrase,”Pulling your hair back in a ponytail does NOT count as taking a shower”? Well, using Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder (click here to purchase in your hair color) does! Think of “dry washing” your hair. You can spray it on your roots and it picks up grease, gives your hair instant fullness and enhances your color. It puts off washing and styling your hair for at least another day or two. After going to the salon when you want to extend your blow-out from your stylist before “going back” to the real you (i.e. hair back in a ponytail), B and B hair powder lets you look like a movie star for just one or two days longer. And when your hair looks good, YOU feel good. The best part of all, it buys you an hour more of beauty sleep at least one morning a week when you would have to get up and wash and style your hair. |

Kelly is mother to Abigail, Marcus and Eli and lives with her husband Thadd in Long Beach, California. Although she is a beauty product junkie, you will most likely find her on any given day wearing no makeup, in her favorite pair of gray sweats, and yes, sporting a ponytail. |
