Breezy Mama Anna’s French Onion Soup
Mother of two and long time (we’re talking kindergarten) friend, Breezy Mama Anna says of her soup, “Seriously, the best you will ever have. You’ll never order again in a restaurant.”
Ingredients
4 large onions (I use the sweet onions)
6 TBSP of butter
2 boxes of Swanson’s Beef Broth (must be regular Swanson’s and NOT the organic kind)
2 teaspoons of sugar
3 TBSP of flour
1 cup of white wine (I use chardonnay)
french bread
Gruyere Swiss cheese
Directions
- Thinly slice the onions (I use my cuisinart and it takes about 1 minute).
- Place onions in a large soup pot with the 6 TBLS of melted butter. Cook on high (stirring frequently so the onions don’t burn) for around 20-30 min. You want them nice and brown.
- Stir in the sugar, flour, and both boxes of Swanson’s. Bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer with lid for 30 minutes.
- Add your wine.
Put sliced bread and cheese on top and broil in oven on high for about 5-10 min (or until cheese is melted and bread is toasty). YUM!!!!
